Sport Me Up business idea competition
What is the Sport Me Up Business Idea Competition?
Sport Me Up is a business idea competition held from April 1 to April 30, 2025, aiming to find new business ideas to promote sports and well-being in the Mehtimäki area. The competition is open to individuals, students, entrepreneurs, and sports clubs.
The competition seeks new business ideas and innovations that can lead to new or developing businesses in the sports and well-being sector. The submitted business idea must support the development of business activities in the Mehtimäki area. Your idea can be:

A service that can be provided in Mehtimäki

A service concept that improves, for example, event offerings in the area

A product that serves users in the area

Another type of innovation related to the field
The winner of the competition will receive a €3,500 cash prize.
The competition is part of the Mehtimäki Well-being and Sports Testing Station – New Business, Services, and Entrepreneurship project, in collaboration with Business Joensuu.

During the competition, participants will have the opportunity to receive expert coaching to develop their business ideas. A coaching session ("Idea Coffee") will be held at the new testing station at Joensuu Arena on April 15, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Although the competition is linked to the testing station, your idea does not have to be directly related to it. The most important factor is that the idea has the potential to generate new or expand existing business in Mehtimäki in the sports and well-being sector.
Competition Schedule

Submit your business idea between April 1 and April 30, 2025.

Join us on April 15, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, to visit the testing station and refine your business idea at the "Idea Coffee" event at Joensuu Arena. Register by Sunday, April 13, 2025 via this link: https://link.webropol.com/s/SportMeUpideakahvit.

The competition jury will review all submitted ideas that meet the competition rules in early May. Additional information may be requested if necessary.

The winner will be contacted in May.

The winner will be announced and awarded during Week 22 in May 2025.
How to Enter the Competition?

Come up with a unique business idea – Think about an idea that could create new business or expand existing business in the sports or well-being sector in Mehtimäki.

Wait for evaluation – The jury will assess the submitted ideas and select the best one.
Participation Criteria and Conditions

You can participate individually or as a team.

Each participant can submit up to three ideas.

AI tools can be used for brainstorming, but the submitted idea must be the participant’s own original work.

Participation requires filling out and submitting the application form between April 1 and April 30, 2025.
Evaluation Criteria
After the competition period ends, the jury will evaluate the business ideas based on the following criteria:

Innovation and Creativity – How new and unique is the idea?

Practical Feasibility – Can the idea be realistically implemented?

Market Potential – Does the idea have the potential to grow into a profitable business in Mehtimäki?

The winner will be announced and awarded in June!
